The object of the facility was to provide skills training opportunities to girls while at the same time producing clothes and garments especially school uniforms, and other handicrafts which could then be marketed, hence creating employment for the trainees and generating some income for self sustenance of the facility. The construction and equipping of this facility was supported by Spazio Solidale and Marie Saibene.

Through this facility, GECPD has provided training and income generation opportunities for an average 60 IDP girls annually since 2008, through the production of re-usable sanitary kits (pants, pads, petticoats, description sheets, bar of soap and powdered soap) under contracts from UNHCR, UNICEF and other agencies involved in the provision of hygiene and sanitation items to women and girls.
