The Halabookhad Women Market was constructed by GECPD with the support of Oxfam Novib in 2010 to give women in the newly established Halabookhad IDP settlement a place where they could to business and earn income to support their families.

The Market has the capacity to accommodate an estimated 120 business stalls occupying an area of 1.5 msq. Today, 62 women are operating business at the market engaging in the selling of fast moving consumer products. GECPD has been supporting the women through constant training on how to run their businesses to profitability through stock diversification and prudent management skills including simple book keeping.
